T'ai Li Lodge - Luxury Oceanfront Accommodation on Cortes Island

T’ai Li Lodge is bound on three sides by the ocean. The Coast Mountain Range to the east towers above Desolation Sound. The Lodge is backed by forest and stands on a rocky peninsula which forms a secure deep water anchorage. A dock and three guest moorings can handle yachts up to 50 feet in suitable weather.

The Lodge was completely rebuilt in 2005-06 and features a custom finished interior of local and exotic woods. It is 1600 square feet, with large windows opening onto vistas of stunning scenery: ocean, mountains, trees, and a quiet harbour. The property is surrounded by extensive stands of old growth public forest.

Fully-Equipped Island Getaway

The Lodge has both open and screened decks, custom kitchen, large living/ dining room, two bathrooms (one with bathtub and one with shower) and two bedrooms.

The kitchen comes fully equipped to provide for up to twenty guests, with double sink, large fridge and freezer, dishwasher and all of the pots, pans, cutlery, china and serving dishes you will need for 20 people. There are laundry facilities, both washer and dryer.  Catering is available by arrangement.

There is a small office with a great view for those who want or need to do a little work from this retreat. It is the perfect place to set up your laptop computer and write a book or thesis, or just keep in touch with the office at home. High speed wireless internet works both indoors and out.

Waterfront Privacy

Rental of the Lodge includes a dockside sleeping cabin, with the custom finishing of the Lodge itself, which provides a queen and a single bed, washstand, private deck, and a great view of the bay. There is easy access to the Lodge bathroom and shower facilities, or to a nearby outhouse. Also included is a very private tent-cabin with comfy king size bed (can be arranged as two singles) right on the ocean and overlooking Desolation Sound.

Island Camping in a Pristine Natural Setting

You will be surrounded by bird songs and the sound of water. The grounds have been kept completely natural with minimum clearing and magical footpaths. Large sloping rocks covered with moss and dwarf evergreens are the front yard. (The water warms as it comes in over the rocks in the afternoon for great swimming). Pots of geraniums, out of reach of the ever hungry deer, provide a splash of colour.

We will make sure that there is a variety of reading material, cards, games, and music for your use. We will also be pleased to help you plan to take advantage of the many activities available on the Island.

Flexible Group Size

“The Lodge” can be used in combination with “Arbutus Point Camp” to accommodate larger groups.
