Arbutus Point Camp consists of a
camp lodge, oceanfront cabins and tent cabins in a natural forested setting on Cortes Island.

Established in 2005 and completed in the spring of 2006, Arbutus Point Camp recreates the simple early days of T'ai Li Lodge with modern conveniences for your comfort. Surrounded by the sea and a mixed Pine, Fir and Arbutus (Madrona) forest, Arbutus Point Camp can serve up to 14 guests comfortably.

Arbutus Commons
Guests at Arbutus Point Camp have full use of 'Arbutus Commons' (also called 'The Commons'), which is a unique cedar clad building with a living green moss roof. It features spacious double level decks with steps leading down to the ocean shore. The Commons has space available for outdoor or indoor dining. Everyone has a 'waterfront table' with views across Desolation Sound to the snow-capped Coast Mountain Range. The setting is astonishing! Think of it as a “vacation rental home, with two bathrooms and “satellite” outdoor bedrooms.

Arbutus Commons amenities include a complete kitchen, modern toilets and showers and generous indoor space. The Commons accommodates friend and family gatherings, clubs, retreats or small workshops. We have provided a complete kitchen facility as a mandatory alternative to campsite cooking due to high fire risk in summer. Kayak storage and use of a small float and moorings in the bay are available for paddlers and boaters.

Sleeping Cabins & Tent Cabins
Located in secluded waterfront locations around the Commons are two rustic cabins and two tent cabins. All are furnished with comfortable beds and full linen service. You only need to bring your personal gear. The tent cabins feature luxurious standup tents sheltered by cedar shake roofs. The cabins and tent cabins are supported by the full facilities of the” Commons” as well as conveniently located outhouse and an outdoor washhouse equipped with a sink in one section and a truly wonderful outdoor solar hot shower in the other. Once you have tried it, you will always choose to shower outside for the view, the squirrels scampering in the trees, and the birds singing all around you.

Secluded Waterfront Campsites
Arbutus Point Camp also includes two oceanfront camp sites that guests are welcome to pitch their own tents on. One camping area will accommodate up to six persons in two expedition style tents or three backpacker tents. The other waterfront camping area will accommodate one expedition tent for two people.

Our favorite site is Skye Cabin, which is perched on a rock bluff above the water. It is designed to fit into the rock and blend with the landscape. The owners have done a thoughtful job with the whole property. The views from this cabin are fantastic, and on our visit last year a group of orcas swam by just a few hundred meters away. As with all camp sites on the property, this one especially gives you the feeling of complete privacy, and has proximity to fantastic natural beauty on all sides, any time of day . Comfortable anytime- no matter rain, wind, or hot sunny weather. Watching the water is always interesting... a sunrise here is magical..."

Please Note: These campsites are not "drive-in" - they are a short walk by trail from the parking area, so please pack accordingly. Also, we do not allow use of camp stoves or camp lanterns that use fuel - most of our season is hot and dry and total campfire and burning bans are in effect. We have provided a complete kitchen facility as a mandatory alternative to campsite cooking.

High Season $2200.00 / week July & August
Shoulder Season $1950.00 / week May, June & September
Off Season Arbutus Commons is available as a fully furnished cabin on a monthly basis October to May.

Rates are based on a weekly rental for up to 8 guests. There is an extra charge of $35 per guest per night for additional guests. The maximum number of guests this property can accommodate is 14.

Weekly rental includes the Arbutus Commons, 2 sleeping cabins, 2 tent cabins and 2 campsites and a float in the Bay.

Moorage: Additional moorage charges will apply for use of dock and facilities by boats other than those belonging to our guests. Please enquire.

All rates are in Canadian funds and do not include taxes which will apply to all charges.
